Teaching First aid to your Kids!

Bandage

Children are going to fall here and there and hurt themselves. Teach your kids how to tie a bandage and close the open wound. Firstly, clean the wound with water and then apply any antiseptic with a cotton swab. Application of an antiseptic is very important as germs like bacteria gain access to the body through wounds.

Nosebleed
Nosebleed

This is another common problem among kids but its treatment is simple and kids can easily take care of this problem. The simplest is to just lean forward and pinch the bottom of nose till the bleeding stops. The bleeding will usually stop within 10 minutes.

Insect bite(s)
Insect bite(s)

An insect bite is another common occurrence among kids. Teach your kid the importance of cleaning the bite with water and antiseptic. Then, apply anti-bacterial solution with a cotton swab. The affected area can become swollen, so apply ice to that area for about 20 minutes.

Burns
Burns

Sometimes, children can get minor burns when they come into contact with any hot substance. The very first thing they should do is to hold the wounded part under cold running water for a few minutes. Then, apply any burn relief ointment.

Splinter
Splinter

Children normally get splinters because they walk barefoot and play in and around places which makes them more prone to splinters. Teach them how to remove splinters. Keep in mind that all kinds of wounds caused by foreign bodies can lead to infections.

Rashes
Rashes

It is quite common for kids to get rashes through some allergies. To get relief from rashes, they should be taught to apply zinc oxide ointment or calamine lotion. The above are a few important techniques of first aid for children.
